Piedmont Seepage Forest
A unique ecosystem
Home to the threatened-endangered Dwarf-flowering Heartleaf and the endangered Bunched Arrowhead (which can only be found here in the northern portion of Greenville County, SC and nearby Henderson County, NC). The Piedmont Seepage Forest really is a fascinating and unique ecosystem! In addition to unique plants, we've seen some pretty special creatures: from salamanders, lizards, and frogs to deer, spotted fawn, wild turkeys, and even a great blue heron!
Schedule an educational field trip to learn about native and invasive plant species, seepage forest ecology including "occasional rivers," and/or how environmental issues impact urban development (including how we were able to work with our local government to prevent a subdivision from going in on the property next to Enoree Grove). We're also always happy to teach about composting and growing.
